This month we will get together to chat while doing a children’s clothing & book swap. With the kids getting ready to go back to school, it is the ideal time to go through and reorganize those closets. Bring in some gently worn, season appropriate clothes and we can swap out the old and get some “new to you” clothes. Same goes for the books. Has your child become tired or outgrown the books on your shelves? Bring those in as well and maybe find some new favorites!
We typically have about 50 members at any given time. Our children range in age from newborns to teens, and we have a mix of members who are caring for children full time, working full-time for pay, and everywhere in between.
Each month we schedule a wide variety of activities to suit any interest. Past activities include a soup swap, rock climbing, baby playgroups, a free tennis lesson for moms and kids, walking and hiking groups, a trip to the planetarium, kids crafts, a night out for tapas, and private tours of a fire house for the kids. There is a new calendar every month and always a wide variety based on member interest and kids' ages. There is something for everyone and to fit any schedule!
Top 5 Reasons to Join Mothers & More of Greater New Haven
(compiled by our wonderful members!)
5. It's like having a mommy help-line; a network of moms to ask questions and get "real life" answers.
4. To learn about local family-oriented activities (such as farmer's markets, free summer concerts, holiday events for children). Also - notifications of coupons, sales, discounts, and freebies!
3. Get great advice and support (are there any other social outlets where someone will listen to your potty-training, nail-biting, etc. stories with rapt attention?). Because we have over 50 members, we have moms at all stages of life. It is so helpful to have the more experienced moms able to help the new moms!
2. Moms need playdates too - to meet others with similar-age children, find fun activities in the area, and get out of the house. To get a break with our Moms Night Out- a night away from the kids for scrapbooking, wine tasting, going to the movies, bonfire/s'mores, or book club with other moms
